Instead of clear removable braces they can also be moved with traditional metal fixed braces or white fixed braces that are fixed onto the outside or behind your teeth.

Unfortunately, not everyone is suitable and it depends on what needs to be achieved.

Each patient, irrespective of age, is assessed individually to ensure we are able to achieve the results. During the assessment, some of the criteria we look at are:

Initial position of teeth. Some goals are unachievable with any brace system and with our bespoke video we can see whether Invisalign would be suitable for you.

Before treatment

Gum and teeth health. Before treatment is done, the patient must have very good cleaning habits to ensure there is no sign of gum or teeth disease, as this can increase the risk of failure. They must also be able to ensure they can keep their mouth clean after the treatment is complete to ensure long term success.

How does straightening work?

A digital scan is taken to plan the movement of your teeth digitally to show you the proposed final results of your teeth straightening .

Invisalign is a custom made, set of clear, almost invisible braces made using the latest 3D printing technology. You wear them for a minimum of 22 hours of the day and easily remove them for meals, brushing and social occasions.

The aligners are custom made using the latest 3D printing technology. They are changed every 2 weeks as they incrementally move your teeth into the ideal position.

Straightening time is dependant on the initial position of your teeth. Every patient and every tooth is different. We, at Watford Smiles, will do our best to get the tooth safely into the correct position. On average this can take approximately 12 months.

What to expect during treatment?

Once the Invisalign has been fitted. We advise 6-8 weekly short appointments to ensure the health of your teeth and they are able to move.

We advise you to remove the brace when eating or drinking anything other than water. You can eat freely in comparison to traditional braces. We advise regular cleaning of your teeth after meals.

Once complete, we give FREE Vivera removable retainers that are worn to stabilize your teeth and to keep your teeth straight. This is normally worn every night. We give you THREE SETS FOR FREE.

Additionally, you can wear a fixed retainer (a wire that sits behind your teeth) at £150 per arch. It is still advised to wear a removable retainer as this keeps all your teeth in position.

We advise you to attend regular checkups and hygiene appointments. For example, if the gums are unhealthy then the teeth have a risk of moving.

    Interesting Facts About Watford

    Historic Info

There is evidence of some limited prehistoric occupation around the Watford area, with a few Celtic and Roman finds, though there is no evidence of a settlement until much later. Watford stands where the River Colne could be crossed on an ancient trackway from the southeast to the northwest. Watford’s High Street follows the line of part of this route. Watford town was located on the first dry ground above the marshy edges of River Colne.

Watford is first mentioned in an Anglo-Saxon charter of 1007, where “Watforda” is one of the places marking the boundary of “Oxanhaege”. However, it is not mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when this area was part of St Albans Abbey’s manor of Cashio. In the 12th century, the Abbey was granted a charter allowing it to hold a market here, and the building of St Mary’s Church began.

    General Info

Watford is a major regional centre in the northern home counties. Hertfordshire County Council designates Watford and Stevenage to be its major sub-regional centres, heading its list of preferred sites for retail development. High Street is the main focus of activity at night having a high concentration of the town’s bars, clubs, and restaurants. The primary shopping area is the Harlequin Shopping Centre, a large purpose-built indoor mall with over 140 shops, restaurants and cafes built during the 1990s, opened officially in June 1992.
